After Bianca Andreescu defeated Serena Williams in the US Open final, she told American fans she’s sorry for depriving Williams of a record-tying 24th Grand Slam title, opening a Twitter flood of comments over how Canadian it was.
“I know you guys wanted Serena to win… I’m sorry,” Andreescu said at Arthur Ashe Stadium with Williams by her side.

The words apparently made her fellow countrymen and women even more proud than her winning.
